Requirements and Eligibility

The best way to check eligibility is through your case manager or a MedCerts Education Consultant. Most unemployed individuals are eligible.

You are eliGible for WIOA if

Age 14 and older

Has been terminated or laid off, or who has received a notice of termination or layoff, and

In some cases, low income

Is eligible for or has exhausted entitlement to unemployment compensation; or

You are a dislocated worker, for example, from plant or factory closures, general layoffs, or a homemaker who has lost his or her primary income support

Is employed at a facility at which the employer has made a general announcement that such facility will close within 180 days; or

In some cases, you will need to be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S and registered with selective service (for males only)

Self-employed individuals, farmers, ranchers, and fishermen who are unemployed due to economic conditions or a natural disaster

MedCerts offers alternative financing options.

We have several tuition payment options if you do not qualify for State or Federal grants or scholarships. Low cost tuition can be paid up front or education loans are available for everyone. Contact an Education Consultant to learn your options.

How to apply

Schedule

Set up an appointment with a MedCerts Education Consultant. They will guide you on all the steps of WIOA: how it works and where to find assistance.

Create

Visit an American Job Center (use your search above to find one) to create your WIOA profile. You will be assigned a state case worker who will complement the work with MedCerts.

Select

You and your Education Consultant will browse and pick the best programs you need to get certified in a high demand career.

    MedCerts helps job seekers explore all career options with tools like career assessments, interest and skills inventories, portable career statistics, and earning potential metrics.

    Job seekers work with MedCerts to create a plan of action that considers financial aid options, education and training program resources, credential information, and, for eligible spouses, WIOA. WIOA provides a maximum education benefit of $4,000.

Financial assistance

If you are a military spouse or your training is provided through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), you may be eligible for financial assistance to cover all or some of your tuition.
