This course provides students with the skills required for the development and maintenance of electronic health records in both facility and private practice environments. Upon completion of this course, students will have gained the knowledge required to perform a variety of office functions necessary in the digital/electronic age.

Human Anatomy, Physiology & Medical Terminology

This course is designed to familiarize the student with the language of medicine, through the study of prefixes, suffixes, root words, abbreviation, and pronunciation of words as well as an overview of anatomy and physiology in order to increase the understanding of medical vocabulary. This course will prepare students to better understand spoken and written interactions in all medical environments.

Insurance Billing and Coding Essentials

This course will include an introduction to diagnosis coding (ICD-9 and ICD-10), procedure coding (CPT and HCPCS), billing and reimbursement processes and understanding insurance companies; as well as Medical Insurance Billing as a Career, HIPPA & HITECH, Health Insurance basics, Medical Record Documentation, Electronic Data Exchange, Claim Reimbursement and Fees.

Medical Office Procedures & Administration

This course will introduce the student to the Healthcare industry, its environment, and the day to day skills and knowledge required to fulfill a position as a Medical Administrative Assistant.

Pharmacy Technician Principles and Practices

This course is designed to provide knowledge and training in medication order processing, inventories, compounding, packaging, use of a prescription balance, HIPAA privacy act and computers. Upon completion of the course, the student will have knowledge and skills in the areas of drug regulation and control, formulation, pharmaceutical terminology, and units of measurement.

Microsoft Office Series II

This set of courses will provide the range of skills needed to create professional-quality documents and effectively communicate within an office environment. The content covered includes how to create, edit and enhance documents in Word, how to organize, calculate and analyze information in Excel, how to exchange information and manage activities in Outlook, and how to create effective and robust presentations in PowerPoint.
