Pharmacy Technician Program - Overview:

This job includes assisting the pharmacist in completing prescription orders and refills, inventory, stock shelves, assemble prescription packets for nurses to give patients, answer phones, operate cash register, prepare insurance claim forms, maintain patient profiles and assisting customers.

This 6-Month online certification program provides comprehensive training in the areas of Human Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Office Administration, Medical Terminology, Medical Office Computer Applications, and Pharmacy Principles and Practices. Upon completion of the program, you will have become skilled in areas of Medical Office Administration and Pharmacy, and will be prepared for dual healthcare certifications (CMAA and CPhT), increasing your marketability in the field and allowing for greater flexibility in your career path.

Disclaimer: The HI-2000 program is designed to teach or improve the skills necessary to be a Pharmacy Technician. This program will prepare students to sit for the PTCB's Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE), which upon a passing score qualifies the student for status as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). Successful completion of this program, or passing a National Examination does not necessarily mean you will qualify under State law to practice as a pharmacy technician. The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) was established in 1995 and is governed by five organizations: the American Pharmacists Association; the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists; the Illinois Council of Health-System Pharmacists; the Michigan Pharmacists Association; and the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. It is important that there be a single national standard for pharmacy technician certification that is recognized and supported by the profession. PTCB has served this role since it was established in 1995.
