Disclaimer: The HI-2000 program is designed to teach or improve the skills necessary to be a Pharmacy Technician. This program will prepare students to sit for the PTCB's Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE), which upon a passing score qualifies the student for status as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). Successful completion of this program, or passing a National Examination does not necessarily mean you will qualify under State law to practice as a pharmacy technician. Check with your state's board of pharmacy or equivalent licensing body for details.
The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) was established in 1995 and is governed by five organizations: the American Pharmacists Association; the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists; the Illinois Council of Health-System Pharmacists; the Michigan Pharmacists Association; and the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. It is important that there be a single national standard for pharmacy technician certification that is recognized and supported by the profession. PTCB has served this role since it was established in 1995.
